Neuroprosthesis for electrically assisted constraint-induced movement therapy: MIP: none
Abstract
(German)
Every year stroke causes upper limb paralysis in millions of people worldwide. To date, Constraint-Induced Movement Therapy (CIMT) is the most effective upper-limb rehabilitation approach. Unfortunately, CIMT requires a high degree of residual mobility in arm/hand function, making it suitable to only 6%-10% of stroke survivors. Here, we extend CIMT to severely disabled patients with a novel neuroprosthesis designed for this purpose.
