In the 3D cell culture scene, unlike spheroids, matrix-based cell culture is still mainly restricted to specialized research laboratories. Although it also has proven biological relevance, the difficult handling and poor automation make it little attractive to industrial labs. We developed a technology to foster 3D cell culture on pre-formed matrices and want to further develop it to produce the first 3D matrix-based 96 well plate compatible with standard automated equipment.
