The Brookings - London School of Economies Project on Internal Displacement will conduct a new study guided by the overarching question: Are Internally Displaced People (IDPs) any better off than they were ten years ago? The study will seek to assess whether institutional reforms of the humanitarian system (such as those carried out through the cluster approach) have improved IDP protection and assistance. The study will also focus on the extent to which national authorities are protecting and assisting IDPs within their borders. In order to ensure the relevance of this study to current efforts to review the international Protection architecture, the study's authors will consult with all relevant actors.

Projektziele (Englisch)

The purpose of the study is to provide a range of stakeholders, including crisis-affected governments, assisting governments, multilateral institutions, UN agencies, the Red Cross/Red Crescent Movement, and NGOs with:

i. Specific and comparable data on the protection and assistance conditions of IDPs across a range of geographic and socio-political settings; and

ii. Up-to-date recommendations based on field evidence of how to improve international institutional efforts to protect and to serve IDPs in the future.
