Short description (English)

International Crisis Group (ICG) is committed to strengthen the analysis capacity of international actors in the Sahel region by providing them with independent information, analysis and policy recommendations in relation to present or feared deadly conflicts. ICG's reports and other tailored made work constitute a high-quality and recognized source of information used by Switzerland in its decision making process. Thus Switzerland supports ICG's Sahel project, especially as Mali, Niger and Chad are three priority countries of Switzerland and because of the political and social developments, as well as the security threats in the region. This is the second grant provided by Switzerland to ICG for the Sahel region.

Project aims (English)

Based on information and assessments from the field, ICG produces regulär analytical reports and riefing papers containing practical policy recommendations targeting at key international decision-takers. ICG works closely with governments and those who influence them, including the media, to highlight its crisis analyses and to generate support for key policy recommendations. lt has become a unique highly professional source of information that FDFA can use for its own policy making in its peace and security activities in the Sahel region and woridwide.
