This project aims at developing an innovative sensing platform to monitor the ageing of transformer oil. The|analysis of transformer oil is of greatest interest for status check and preventive maintenance program of|power transformers. The proposed sensing scheme will be based on a mid-infrared tunable Vertical|External Cavity Surface Emitting Laser (MIR-VECSEL) module integrated with a specifically designed|Internal Reflection Spectroscopy (IRS) sampling head taking full advantage of the unique characteristics of|the MIR-VECSEL light source.
