New biodegradation tests for chemical compounds in low environmental relevant concentrations

Abstract (German)

The proposal will develop new tests for biodegradability of chemical compounds at low concentrations in aqueous systems, as required for approval of their production and market introduction in EC-REACH legislation. The innovative test is based on accurate detection of growth of microorganisms in a sample at the expense of the added chemical compound during a predefined time period. The test will be widely applicable and help reduce classical eco-tox testing with e.g., fish.|
