Enhancing the functional performance of watch components by ion implantation

Abstract (Deutsch)

Ion implantation technology has been demonstrated to enhance the properties of a wide range of different materials. Thereby it  has great potential for high-end watchmaking and will maintain and enhance the share of revenue for the Swiss watchmaking sector. This study investigates ion implantation as a performance enhancer for real watchmaking materials and thereby facilitating its introduction as a production technology into the Swiss watchmaking sector.
