New tools for imaging and diagnosis of Head and Neck squamous cell cancers
Abstract
(German)
Lymph node metastasis (LNM) is a major cause of death in Head and Neck Squamous Cell Cancer (HNSCC). Accurate LNM assessment is crucial to select appropriate therapy regimens. However, small LNM are detectable neither by palpation nor by any imaging technique in clinics. We will develop a new method consisting of antibodies specific for lymphatic vessels coupled to a near-infrared optical probe. These tools shall enable non-invasive in vivo detection of LNM in HNSCC.
