Development of hybrid CLT panels from hard- and softwood

Abstract (German)

CLT from spruce is becoming more important for the structural use especially for multi-storey timber buildings. But there is also a need for products with even higher performance for buildings with six stories and more in order to compete with concrete constructions. Only the use of hardwood can give this opportunity and therefore raise the use of timber in this increasing market sector. A combination of soft- and hardwood can herby help in cost competition but leads to new need for research.
