Development of novel non-biocidal textile coatings reducing sweat odor accumulation.

Abstract (German)

Surfaces are often colonized by microorganisms causing undesired effects e.g. degradation, color change and odor annoyance. Therefore functional textiles should ideally possess antimicrobial properties, which to date is achieved by coatings releasing biocides. In this project we aim at implementing novel coatings for textiles that are anti-bacterial, through non-toxic anti-adhesive properties and additionally also prevents binding of odor-causing compounds.
