Abstract (English)	The project objective is the design, synthesis and pharmacological characterization of a series of novel compounds that are potent and selective inverse agonists of the ghrelin receptor. Ghrelin antagonism/inverse agonism is considered a valid treatment paradigm for obesity, type 2 diabetes and metabolic syndrome. The ultimate goal is to obtain preclinical candidates that could lead to the development of innovative medicines for these pathological conditions.

Abstract
(English)

The project objective is the design, synthesis and pharmacological characterization of a series of novel compounds that are potent and selective inverse agonists of the ghrelin receptor. Ghrelin antagonism/inverse agonism is considered a valid treatment paradigm for obesity, type 2 diabetes and metabolic syndrome. The ultimate goal is to obtain preclinical candidates that could lead to the development of innovative medicines for these pathological conditions.
