Laser-based additive manufacturing of next generation white metal bearings. Acronym: LaserBabbittBearing
Abstract
(Deutsch)
White metal plain bearings are widely used in heavy machines. Traditional casting or welding production techniques are labor intensive, hard to control with high environmental impact. Laser-based additive manufacturing significantly improves material quality, makes production cleaner and more efficient; increases freedom in geometry and choice of material. This project will allow Stellba to offer laser-manufactured large diameter plain bearings as a unique service worldwide.
