High performance sheet metal forming tooling

Abstract (German)

Metal forming represent an important production technology in Europe. Virtually any product ¿ from|aerospace to automotive and household sector - contains formed metal components. The forming tool itself|is critical for performance improvement in the metal forming process. We aim at developing tools for 3|demonstrator applications to significantly reduce lubrication use, scrap rate and cycle time and by|improving the part quality. This will be achieved by 3 novel tooling components: i) thermal management for|heating and cooling, ii) in-process lubrication system, and iii) multi-sensor tool for process monitoring.
