Short description (English)

International Crisis Group (ICG) is committed to strengthen the analysis capacity of international actors in the Sahel Region by providing them with independent Information, analysis and policy recommendations in relation to present or feared deadly conflicts. ICG's reports and other tailored made work constitute a high-quallty and recognized source of Information used by the Fédéral Department of Foreign Affairs (FDFA) in its decision making process. Thus the Human Security Division (HSD) supports ICG's West Africa project in the Sahel Region, especially as Mali and Niger are two priority countries oft he HSD and because ofthe recent political and social developments in the region.

Project aims (English)

Based on information and assessments from the field, ICG produces regular analytical reports and briefing papers containing practical policy recommendations targeting at key international decision-takers.
ICG works closely with governments and those who influence them, including the media, to highlight its crisis analyses and to generate support for key policy recommendations. It has become a unique highly professional source of Information that FDFA can use for its own policy making in its peace and security activities in the Sahel region and woridwide.
