The overall goal of the project is the identification of violent of potentially violent conflict lines of drivers for polarization in the Sahel region, the identification of possible entry points for the mitigation thereof, in particular in Chad, Mauritania, Mali, and Niger.
In order to reach this overall goal, the proposed project aims at the following concrete objectives:
a) identify experts, collect and improve the state of knowledge and analysis of conflicts with religious dimension, consolidate hypotheses and concepts;
b) establish a platform of experts and adors with a focus on conflicts with a religious dimension;
c) identify potential entry points for peace promotion indiatives.
Theory of change:
By jointly analyzing conflicts and identifying entry points for initiatives, by reinfordng conflict transfomnation capacities and enabling mediation spaces, this projed will contribute to address tensions and conflicts between communities with different religious references, and will contribute to mitigate the risk of increased polarization and instrumentalization of Inter-community and inter-religious rifte, thereby lifting obstacles for the development of a peaceful coexistence In the region.
