Abstract
(German)
The MineralWood project stands for novel calcium carbonate-wood-hybrid products based on inspiration by biomineralization. The reliability of wood is improved by increasing its flame retardancy, one of the key limitiations of wood in construction. The production is cost-efficient and does not require expensive facilities nor hazardous chemicals. The process leads to additionally binding of CO2 in the wood structure, which is beneficial in view of climate changes and results in a high value material well embeded in the cascade use of wood.
