An innovative approach is proposed for low-cost gas sensors based on mid infrared vertical external cavity|surface emitting lasers using high contrast gratings as top cavity mirrors. The new optical design will enable|a technological breakthrough and pave the way for an easy upscale of the device fabrication This project is|thus essential for the future of the implementation partner:.while its realization will allow Phocone to grow in regard to revenues and full time employees, not pursuing this project would be a severe handicap for the|company development.
