Current manufacturing processes for high volume production of composites usually have to trade off between cycle time and resulting quality of the laminate. FHNW is proposing a new processing approach referred to as compression resin transfer moulding, which allows a significant reduction of cycle time without compromising, the laminate quality. The impregnation taking place in seconds leads to different interaction between reinforcement and flow front and requires novel approaches in the robust modelling of this process.
