A novel multiwell device for drug development with bioprinted 3D human tendon and skeletal muscle tissues
Abstract
(German)
There is an unmet medical need for muscle/tendon-related diseases with no pharmaceutical therapies. Crucial for drug development is a high-tech device that allows the production and analysis of reliable 3D tissue models for compound screening.|We develop an in vitro test system, comprising a microstructured culture plate with stimulation and read out for bioprinted muscle/tendon tissues. This system replaces animal based ex vivo test systems, which has insufficient throughput and poor reproducibility. The application of 3D bioprinting processes enables the mimicking of the in vivo muscle/tendon tissue.
