Development of new binder system and in-situ debinding and sintering process for ceramic core manufacturing by CIM processing (DeSiCIM)
Abstract
(German)
Ceramic cores are typically produced by ceramic injection molding (CIM) technique where paraffin is used as a thermoplastic binder. For core structures pure paraffin binder system has some limitation because of its properties. In this project alternative binder system will be investigated to achieve higher stability of the ceramic-polymer compound (feedstock) and in-situ debinding and sintering process. Using the proposed procedure will help to reduce the costs for core production significantly. Manual processing between debinding and sintering step can be avoided and therefore the production costs can be reduced by 20%.
