Résumé des résultats (Abstract)
(Anglais)
This project built upon our recently completed pathogen genome sequence project and obtained a comprehensive characterization of the transcriptome of Xanthomonas arboricola pv. pruni. This is the first study to provide a total picture of all genes expressed by this pathogen during infection of host trees. This represents one of the first applications of the new RNA-sequencing approach to efficiently assess plant pathogen transcriptomes. Further, through this project we were able to actively cooperate with a number of COST Action 873 partners to apply our results and technology in order to develop genomics-informed diagnostics suitable for on-site phytosanitary monitoring, investigate host plant responses during infection, characterize pathogen virulence determinants and develop genotyping methods that will enable tracking pathogen evolution and invasion across Europe. We were able to successfully achieve all the goals/deliverables set out in the project plan. The scientific and technological advances achieved in this project and collaborations that developed within this project directly resulted in submission and preparation of several spin-off EU FP7 KBBE and SNF proposals. This project resulted in 15 peer-reviewed publications published or submitted.
