Antimicrobial silver surface treatment of porous titanium based orthopaedic implants (PROPORSILVER)
Abstract
(German)
Porous titanium surface used in orthopaedic industry will be coated with an antibacterial silver coordination compound and will be designed to combat periprosthetic infection, which is the main cause of revision in total hip and knee arthroplasty. The project will demonstrate safety and efficacy through biocompatibility and animal studies on lab scale and industrial scale by integrating the process on an existing orthopaedic production line.
