Short description
(French)
A novel concept of infant incubator with ultra-low energy consumption.
Abstract
(English)
The aim of this feasibility study is to investigate a novel concept of infant incubator with the objective of optimizing its thermal efficiency by numerical simulation of the heat and air flows. The use of phase change materials will be investigated as a mean to reduce the overall electrical energy consumption and to provide warmth to the infant during power blackouts. This type of incubators is suited for the context of many emerging countries where power supply is unreliable and maintenance is difficult to provide, and would thus allow the industry partner to target new markets for its devices.
