One Drop: Point-of-care diagnostics technology for fast, handheld and multiplexed biomarker detection
Abstract
(English)
The objective is to develop technology for a handheld device that can quantitatively detect multiple biomarkers from one drop of blood. This is a high unmet need in point-of-care diagnostics. Microfluidic chips with miniaturized diffusion volumes of mass transport limited reactions result in increased sensitivity and faster time to result. The research plan contains the design and fabrication of microfluidic chips, development of surface chemistry, integration of immunoassays, and development of technology building blocks for a nomadic multichannel fluorescence reader; which are not yet possible with today¿s technology.
