Coated Diamonds for Improved Adhesion (DiAd)
Abstract
(German)
Vitrified-bond diamond grinding tools bring numerous advantages to grinding processes, however have|short lifetimes due to poor adhesion between the diamond particles and the bond matrix causing pulling-out|of grains from the tool. In this project novel coatings will be developed on the diamond particles via preceramic|polymer or sol-gel routes to improve adhesion of the diamond particles and minimize oxidation.
