Vidinoti proposes to develop novel Augmented Reality methods for accurate localization. It is planned to make use of a new type of camera called ¿plenoptic camera¿ that enables us to record more information about the surrounding scene than a standard camera. It is believed that this extra information can lead to more robust and efficient scene recognition and localization techniques. The algorithms newly developed are meant to be implemented on a prototype that is able to perform recognition with an acceptable amount of time.
