Numerical and experimental study for trans-cranial ultrasound focalization using a conventional probe.
Abstract
(German)
Advances in medical technologies allowed the development of new tools for Focused Ultrasound (FUS)|through the skull mainly for brain thermal ablation which requires high ultrasound power. Nevertheless,|several applications of FUS need only lower power such as sono-thrombolysis, activation of sensitive|medicines, sonoporation, or blood brain barrier opening. Our project proposes to study the feasibility of|trans-cranial focused ultrasound methodology based on the use of conventional ultrasound probe for these|applications.
