Since the past years, Head-Mounted and Head-Up displays are of increasing demand from customers in both consumer and military applications. There is however today a physical limitation of existing technology (LCD, OLED) mainly in terms of sufficient brightness, low size and low power consumption for a rapid and wide adoption. Lemoptix MEMS-laser based microprojection technology has been embedded in the past months into several automotive Head-Up Display demonstration systems and has proven to be the most efficient technology to achieve the required specs. This technology is now mature enough to extend the range of its application field. The CTI project is therefore targeting specifically motorcycle helmets and high brightness displays for observation devices with or without an integrated laser range finder. This project allows therefore the development of very innovative applications in a relatively short time frame, using a mature but innovative core technology while requiring specific expertise from HES partners to address the required performances for these applications: low power, high brightness, low size.
