Water films on steam turbine components, responsible for large parts of the efficiency detriment due to wetness and blade erosion, can be reduced, if the surface features hydrophobic behaviour, avoiding film formation.|This project shall select coatings existing in the market and theoretically as well as experimentally investigate their application in steam turbines and validate them prior to the use under commercial operation.
