Optimizing the Chilled Ammonia Process technology for post-combustion CO2 capture by controlling solid precipitation
Abstract
(German)
In the context of emissions reduction from fossil-fuel power plants, the chilled ammonia process (CAP) is the only carbon dioxide capture technology besides amine-based processes that is on the verge of large-scale demonstration. The possible formation of solid ammonium-bicarbonate is a challenge for the CAP, but also an opportunity for lowering cost and energy penalty. The project aims at enhancing the performance of the CAP through controlled and optimized solid formation.
