Fast estimation of Colles' fracture load of the distal radius by non-linear finite element analysis based on high resolution peripheral computed tomography
Abstract
(English)
The project aims the development, experimental validation and pilot application of a fast simulation tool that computes the strength of the human distal radius, which is highly prone to fracture in postmenopausal women when they fall. Early diagnosis of weak bones could avoid this fracture by providing timely treatment. The simulation tool exploits latest generation peripheral computer tomography as well as international state of the art knowledge of bone mechanics.
