In der Industrie wird die thermische Schichtprüfung zur Visualisierung von verdeckten Schäden an Beschichtungen eingesetzt. Durch die Prüfung möglicher Einsatzgebiete und den Vergleich mit bereits etablierten, aber teureren Untersuchungsverfahren soll erforscht werden, welche Tragweite dieses Verfahren in der Konservierung von Kunst und Kulturgut besitzt. Die gezielte Weiterentwicklung dieses Verfahrens ermöglicht die Erschliessung eines neuen Absatzmarkts.
