The objective of the project is to develop a novel, high quality and cost-effective system providing on-site recovery of PV grade Si particles (99.9999%) during wafering process (both for slurry and diamond sawing) for direct re-injection in the PV production line. This breakthrough will be reached from a combination of fundamental process know-how development and machine engineering. As the recovery system leads to much lower cost (<10$/kg) to obtain poly-Si than conventional production method (15-20$/kg), the success of the project is extremely meaningful in reducing the cost of PV energy, which is at present the bottleneck for PV industry to compete with traditional energy sources.
