Gegenstand des Projektes ist die Entwicklung eines Prototyps für das AIONAV®-4VIP System, ein ¿Indoor GPS¿ speziell auch für sehbehinderte und blinde Personen. Dabei handelt es sich um ein Navigationssystem, das eine vollständig autonome Indoor und Outdoor Navigation ohne vorinstallierte Infrastruktur erlaubt. Es basiert auf einem Sensorfusionsansatz von Inertialsensoren und Videokamera und ermittelt die absolute Position mit einer Genauigkeit von unter einem Meter.
