Virometix AG is developing a broad-spectrum pneumococcal vaccine based on its synthetic virus-like particle (SVLP) technology, comprising surface proteins (virulence factors) that are commonly expressed by all pneumococcal serotypes. The vaccine should overcome major shortcomings of the current capsular polysaccharide-based vaccines including limited serotype coverage and high manufacturing complexity. This KTI project should support preclinical profiling of Virometix vaccine candidates in animal models of pneumococcal diseases.
