Research Proposal on Experimental and Numerical Investigations into Resonant Blade Vibrations|in a Centrifugal Compressor at sub-, trans- and supersonic Diffuser-Flows
Abstract
(Deutsch)
Manufacturers of centrifugal compressors operate in a very competitive market. This requires the continuous|improvement of their technology to maintain or improve the share of Swiss Industry in this international market. This|research proposal addresses the requirements to perform investigations into the field of resonant blade vibrations in a|centrifugal compressor at sub-, trans- and supersonic flows upstream and within the vaned diffuser. One of the|motivations for the proposed work is the need for reliable and engine representative data to advance understanding of|impeller-diffuser interactions at the above mentioned flow conditions. Secondly, data from experiments under controlled|operating conditions would allow developing and validating numerical tools that can be used to properly assess the|mechanical integrity of the turbomachinery components already during the design process.
