Abstract (German)

The International Institute for the Safety of Medicines (ii4sm) is an independent Swiss company developing and providing innovative software and solutions for the healthcare sector. Their groundbreaking Computable Semantic and Interoperability (CSI) platform combines traditional and artificial intelligence approaches and technologies to provide a unique set of robust, flexible and extendable software for customers across the healthcare spectrum. With the current project we intend to develop an electronic Patient Recruitment System (ePRS) replacing the current manual recruitment for clinical trials at hospitals - a key reason for poor trial performance. ePRS will automatically screen Electronic Health Records (EHR) for patients that match study criteria, including normalization of data based on semantic technology. The project goal is to develop, test and validate that ePRS with a pilot implementation at the University Hospital in Basel, leading to reliable, fast patient recruitment and to more patients in comparison to the manual process.
