Dentsply Maillefer is a company based in Ballaigues with around 800 collaborators. It is part of a large International Group that manufactures a broad range of professional dental products. Dentsply Maillefer is specialised in Endodontics. The company is searching for a new type of endodontic file for root canal shaping and cleaning. The current state-of-art are files made of extremely flexible Nickel-Titanium NiTi alloys. However to increase the fatigue properties of the files, other materials as for example fiber reinforced plastics shall be examined. A second approach is to use an even more flexible high speed drilling file. Both types of composite files will be developed to prototype level and afterwards tested. The product will extend our product range and thus increase the company¿s turnover by around 5%.
