Abstract (Deutsch)

The existing solutions for rolling stock main transformers are based on oil-immersed transformers for 16 2/3 Hz and 50 Hz railway supply networks. These transformers are very demanding and highly developed appliences fullfiling specific traction requirements of compactness and high thermal, mechanical and environmental load. The dielectric and thermal characteristics of transformer oil support these requirements but on the other hand transformer oil represents a fire, explosion and environmental risk. The use of dry-type transformers eliminates the risk.
