Laser-based fabrication of biomimetic dental restorations

Abstract (German)

The present project aims at fabricating a dental prosthesis that perfectly imitates a natural tooth. An innovative laser-based processing technique is used to locally induce crystallization in a novel glass. The result of this project will allow serving patients with superior solutions in respect to mechanical properties and aesthetic outcomes. Further it will change today's manufacturing chain leading to improved value flow for all involved partners. The expected improvement is rather revolutionary than incremental.
