Oral biomarkers for early diagnosis of fibrotic inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) Main
Abstract
(German)
We aim at developing a new oral contrast agent for the early diagnosis of fibrotic IBD by means of confocal endomicroscopy. Our imaging agent will be not absorbable, resist digestion in the gut, bind with high specificity to the disease site, and be easily manufactured. Such a tailored IBD probe will be more patient-friendly, making the endoscopic examination less labour intensive, and it would open new horizons in terms of diagnosis and timely treatments.
