DENEB - Development of Secure Distance Measurement Prototype
Abstract
(Englisch)
The goal of this project is to develop a secure distance measurement hardware prototype for proximitybased access control. Today's wireless access control check the distance by measuring the received signal power (e.g. car key), an unsatisfactory solution in terms of security because they are prone to attacks from hackers relaying the signal at a distance. This project will innovate in the field of access control systems by using true distance measurements based on signal time-of-flight between devices, for ensuring that the real owner is located close to the resource to be accessed. The fabricated prototype will be a major step towards a reliable and secure solution for any type of proximity-based access control.
