Erigo® Life: A revolutionary rehabilitation device controlling the cardiopulmonary system in early rehabilitation reducing medication, personnel effort and patient time in acute care
Abstract
(Englisch)
Subject of project/Short description (480 characters) This text may be used for publication in, for example, the CTI Progress Report. Severely impaired patients in acute care need costly treatments to stabilize their cardiovascular system in form of medication, and require non efficient personnel-intensive rehabilitation in order to start the rehabilitation process towards recovery. In this project we propose to develop a novel rehabilitation product, the Erigo® Life, by using biosignals such as heart rate and blood pressure in order to control roboticinduced movement and electrical stimulation in a proprietary closed loop control fashion. The product will control the cardiopulmonary system in order to diminish the amount of medication normally used to stabilize patients¿ vital signs today. With this device, the rehabilitation process can start 24h after the incident in order to reduce secondary effects of immobility which leads to faster recovery and this enhancing today¿s therapy personnel. The device will ultimately reduce cost of care with better outcome for patients.
