Short description

New and improved glycoproteins as novel vaccines against parasitic infections
Abstract
(German)
Malcisbo develops a novel vaccine against the stomach worm ¿Haemonchus contortus¿, an economically important parasite (nematode) of sheep with a considerable economic impact. In this project, vaccines based on recombinantly produced parasite-specific carbohydrates attached to carrier proteins will be tested for their potential to reduce H. contortus infections in sheep. Our novel vaccine concept is applicable to many other human and animal parasites and may therefore represent the start for novel strategies to fight important diseases like e.g. heartworm, liver fluke or hookworm infections.
