Synthetic Biology for the Discovery of Novel 11 â-HSD Inhibitors
Résumé des résultats (Abstract)
(Allemand)
The enzyme 11â-hydroxysteroid dehydrogenase type 1 (11â-HSD1) acts as a cellular switch to mediate glucocorticoid action. Excessive cortisol production through 11â-HSD1 has been implicated in several diseases like metabolic syndrome, type II diabetes, obesity and skin aging. This project aims at the discovery of novel specific inhibitors of 11â-HSD1 using Evolva¿s Synthetic Biology Technology Platform. Alongside we will improve this technology in several aspects that will allow us to rebuild unknown biosynthetic pathways in yeast and efficiently identify and produce bioactive compounds for the healthcare industry.
