Dedicated Design of High Temperature Corrosion Resistant PVD Oxide Coatings for Automotive Applications (DD-Coat)
Abstract
(English)
An innovative oxide deposition technology for automotive applications will be developed in this project resulting in a new business field in the automotive industry. Reactive arc technology utilizing composite targets allows the formation of oxides with barrier functions. A semi-quantitative model supports a fast dedicated synthesis of coatings for specific applications resulting in drastic cost reductions for engine tests. The coatings are designed to improve the stability of standard materials in automotive applications at elevated temperatures and in harsh environment.
