Within the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations (UNAOC), Switzerland very much supports the High Representative's approach to engage in practical, result-oriented activities and to focus on so-called "glocal deliverables", i.e. measures taken at the local level to achieve results at the global level. In order to reach this goal, Switzerland promoted the idea of creating within the Group of Friends (GoF), thematic platforms, which focus on specific issues of relevance to achieving the goals of the UNAOC. All members of the GoF can join one or several thematic platforms, based on their interests and know-how. The present project proposal concerns an activity of the Swiss-led thematic platform on "bridging the divides in the field of humanitarianism and international cooperation" (in short "divides").
