Short description (English)

The Project "The Horn of Africa - improving international engagement" builds upon a previous three year project, which was supported by the Political Affairs Division IV (PD IV). Its purpose is to enhance understanding of the role of regional organizations (AU, IGAD, etc.) in the Horn of Africa, the role of diasporas in politics as well as the relations between the states of the Horn of Africa, with the aim of improving international and Swiss policy making toward the Horn of Africa and strengthening the exchange on this topic. The study will put specific focus on Somalia. Beside the access to quality academic material, the participation of PD IV in that project allows its collaborators working on the Horn of Africa to participate in high level policy meetings organized by Chatham House.
