Asphalt pavements for roads are traditionally constructed with hot mix asphalt. In the last few years the search for new asphalt technologies to reduce both energy consumption and CO2 production has been intensified. The project proposed aims at evaluating and improving semi-warm and warm foam asphalt for transfer from laboratory scale to the mix plant. The examinations focus on material processing (foam generation and gravel coating) and include simulation of traffic road on asphalt specimens to quantify the long term material performance.
