Indium-free anticondensation coating by industrial magnetron sputtering
Résumé des résultats (Abstract)
(Anglais)
Frost covered car windscreens are well known in cold to moderate European climates and water condensation on architectural windows and glass facades is a growing concern owing to the introduction of glazed units with good thermal insulation. The main project goal is to develop and bring to the market anticondensation coating based on Indium-free transparent conducting oxide (TCO), which is triggered by the anticipated shortages of Indium and its increasing price. This is a high-risk and high-payoff project, because In-free TCO materials with low cost potential, such as doped SnO2 and ZnO, exhibit typically poorer performance if deposited by conventional pyrolysis or sputtering techniques. By using innovative process approaches, such as ion-, phonon-, and seed-layer assisted in-line magnetron sputtering, we intend to develop an Indium-free glazing prototype with competitive anticondensation, optical and stability performance.
